Privacy Policy

If you feel that this company is not abiding by its posted privacy policy, you should first contact us. Backpackers Press are registered under the Data Protection Act, for more information go to the Information Commissioners' Office.

1) Information Collection and Use
Backpackers Press is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. Backpackers Press collects information from our users at several different points on our website.

2) Registration
In order to include company information on this website, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give their contact information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact the user about the services on our site, notice of future developments and where indicated, for use by any visitor to the site to make contact with them by the options available, as specified by that company. Upon receipt of the subscription payment, any information provided by the company wishing to participate in the services offered by Backpackers Press., will become public domain unless specifically indicated by the company. Any correspondance between any company participating in any of the services offered by Backpackers Press, will remain strictly confidential at all times.

3) Order
We request information from the user on our order form (this form is, in the first instance, sent to each individual company by post. The company may wish to fill in this form and return by post, or alternatively, fill out the online form found in the Contacting Us page). Here a user must provide contact information (like name and business address) and special information (like offers, inducements, expertise etc). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customer's orders. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user.

4) Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. For the forseeable future, Backpackers Press has no intentions of using cookies in any form to track information for any purpose, to collect personal information on individual users or for the purposes of selling or exchanging information on individual users to third parties. We may, at points throughout the site, use cookies which contain no identifying information and are used purely to enhance the user experience. Some of our business partners use cookies on their own sites (for example, advertisers). However, we have no access to or control over these cookies.

5) Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information, nor are these IP addresses passed on to any third party except when required to do so (see Terms and Conditions). We also use Google Analytics to derive user information to enable us to bring about further improvements to the site. At no time are personally identifiable information gathered, retained or disclosed during this process.

6) Sharing
We will not share or sell aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. Any personal information gathered by this site will not be sold or divulged to third parties without the express written consent of the owner of the personal data.

7) Links
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we (Backpackers Press) are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. Visitors should be aware when they leave our site to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this web site.

8) Security
This website takes every precaution to protect our users' information. Users can not submit sensitive information via the website, information is protected both online and off-line. All information of a confidential nature supplied by any individual user of a service provided by Backpackers Press is stored on a non-networked, standalone computer using biometric encryption which allows restricted access to certain employees only of Backpackers Press. A backup of all data under the control of Backpackers Press is made at regular intervals. These are stored on CD-Roms which are stored in a locked cabinet and are also biometrically protected. Only one employee of Backpackers Press has regular access to this stored backup data.

9) Supplementary Information
All information displayed by Backpackers Press in any of the web sites under its control is displayed with the company concerned allowing Backpackers Press to do so will full knowledge that the information provided is for the public domain. Backpackers Press provides an external link to maps.google.co.uk for a location indicator map for individual accommodations, this is the only source of supplementary information obtained from a third party. Additional information is used from time to time to ensure the accuracy of the public domain information, such as councils etc.

10) Special Offers and Service Updates
Backpackers Press reserves the right to use any means of communicating special offers and promotions under the control of Backpackers Press and if the need arises, notification of any changes to the services currently offered by Backpackers Press.

11) Correction / Updating Company Information
If a user's company information changes (such as the address, postcode or phone numbers), or if a user no longer wishes to participate in our service, we will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user's company data provided to us.

This can usually be done online via the contact form on the Contacting Us page. Changes that the individual user wishes to make regarding information shown on the sites that is other than essential contact information may be updated once a month at no additional cost.

12) Notification of Changes
If we (Backpackers Press) decide to change this privacy policy, we will post those changes on our homepage so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
