Win a weekend holiday for your family or friends in the Welsh speaking village of Gerlan in Snowdonia.

This prize of a free weekends accommodation for five people at Caban Cysgu, is ideal for families, walkers and mountain bikers.

Caban Cysgu bunkhouse is run by the local community and you are guaranteed a genuine warm Welsh welcome.   You will have your own room, containing 5 bunks/beds which are made up with fresh linen and duvets all ready to sleep in.  There is a self catering kitchen and dining area where you can create your own meals and share the days stories with other guests.

Gerlan is at the foot of the Carneddau mountains, overlooking Ogwen valley.  It is a great location for walking and an ideal basecamp for climbing Tryfan and Snowdon.  Some of the best mountain biking trails in Wales are 15 minutes drive away and the bunkhouse is within a mile of the family friendly Lôn Las Ogwen Sustrans cycle route.  Rock-climbing is available nearby at Idwal Slabs, Ogwen Valley and the Carneddau Crags.  For more leisurely pursuits, you can visit Coed Meurig, Penrhyn Castle or the Greenwood Centre.  Shops, pubs and cafes in Bethesda are within walking distance.

The bunkhouse is fully heated and has hot showers, drying rooms and bike storage.   The prize excludes Easter holidays and Half Terms and is subject to availability at the time of the booking.  To find out more about Caban Cysgu click here.

We awarded this prize in April to the MCrea Family who sent us the best article about a holiday they had in one of our hostels.   A new article about their stay at Caban Cysgu  will appear soon.   The articles can be seen here.  Watch this space to find out about the next prize.

If you wish to submit an article about your stay at a hostel, bunkhouse or camping barn, send a message to Sam on the link below.  The articles do not need to say much about the accommodation (although if an aspect of where you stayed made the holiday it would be good to know).  We are really interested in what you did while you were there, any recommendations for good day trips, nice walks, secret beaches or places to eat.  If your stay was part of a touring holiday, by bike, bus or car we would be interested to know your route and other places you stayed.

It would be great to know a bit about you and your fellow holiday makers, let us know if Kristy really enjoyed the Sheppards Pie or Edd got a puncture on the top of High Tor.  The articles can be quite short or very detailed and should include one photo.  The best articles will be posted on our website and we will award prizes to articles which  made us "wish we were there".

To see current articles being featured click here.

To submit your article or article idea click here, and we will be in touch soon.
